A tisket, a tasket, I made a Ruler Basket! {hee hee}
You may recall my Back to School Ruler Wreath from last year. {If not, click here.} As usual, I grossly overestimated how many rulers I would need for the project. This year, I was challenged to come up with a way to celebrate the first day back to school. Lucky for me {and you}, I had plenty of left over rulers to work with! I thought it would be fun to make a First Day of School Ruler Basket full of goodies {other than just regular old school supplies} to present to Reed when he got home from school!

Wanna make your own Ruler Basket?
Here’s what you need:
Wood crate
(18) 12 inch rulers or (36) 6 inch rulers
Saw (if using the 12 inch rulers)
Wood glue
Wooden apple embellishment
Chalkboard vinyl
Washi tape
To begin, I had to saw my 12 inch rulers in half. I just used a hand saw since they were balsa wood and sanded the edges.
Apply wood glue to the crate.

Add the rulers. Be sure to wipe off any excess wood glue because it does not dry pretty.
Repeat the process on all four sides.

Allow the rulers to dry overnight. Add your embellishments. I glued the apple to the front of the basket. Then I cut some chalkboard vinyl. I framed it with some extra washi tape I had laying around.
